Garrett Montgomery - Art Muesum Visit
After walking around the Dallas Museum of Art for a few hours, I finally found the picture I wanted to write my paper about. This painting is of the Eiffel Tower and however it being that I forgot to look at who the artist was and the name of the painting, my descriptions will be
exactly the same as if I didn’t have them. It was a moderately sized painting about 6 feet by 6 feet. The painting was done with very light and smooth brushstrokes. The way that it is painted makes it feel as if it was a puzzle all fitting together. The difference between the colors used throughout the painting is very different, but make the painting stand out. It comes off with a very modern and abstract feel while also seeming like a very active and energetic piece of work. The colors and shapes seem to be moving with the way everything flows together, not one part of the painting feels empty also no area of the painting feels as if to much is in that area. The Eiffel tower is the main point in which one is supposed to be drawn to. It stands out with all the vibrant colors and mixed brushstroke lengths. It is definitely a 2 – D painting but it seems to be popping off the page, the artist did a very good job of making this painting a very noticeable and unforgettable piece. Out of all the paintings, sculptures and this crazy theatrical art film,(which would have been my next choice after this one), this Eiffel tower just jumped out to me from across the room and I immediately took out my camera and said this is the painting I want for my art class.
